Information We Collect

When you connect your Strava account, we collect:

  • Your Strava activity data (routes, timestamps, locations)
  • Your profile information (name, email)
  • Authentication tokens to access your Strava data

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Identify peaks and cols in your activities
  • Display your achievements and statistics
  • Improve our service

Strava Data Retention

When you connect your Strava account, we temporarily cache your route data. Strava-specific information (such as Strava route IDs and segment data) is automatically removed from our system after 7 days in compliance with Strava's API Agreement.

Your manually uploaded routes and any data you create in Routelier (collections, tags, notes) are retained until you choose to delete them or delete your account.

Strava's Data Collection

Strava may monitor and collect usage data related to your use of their API through Routelier for internal purposes, ensuring compliance with their terms, and providing support. This data collection is performed by Strava in accordance with their Privacy Policy.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or disclose your personal data with third parties. Your activity data is processed solely to provide you with the Routelier service. We never use your data for advertising, analytics sold to third parties, or artificial intelligence/machine learning training.

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data. All connections are encrypted using industry-standard protocols.

How to Delete Your Data

You have full control over your data and can request deletion at any time:

  • Visit your Account Settings page (if logged in)
  • Click "Disconnect from Strava" to remove only Strava authentication and cached data
  • Click "Delete My Account" to permanently remove all data including routes, collections, tags, and notes

All data deletion requests are processed within 48 hours. Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered.

Your Rights Under GDPR

We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR. You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Portability: Export your data in a machine-readable format (GPX files)
  • Withdraw Consent: Disconnect your Strava account at any time
  • Object: Object to processing of your personal data
  • Restriction: Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances
